I have seen a lot of different training programs focused on the world of virtual assistance. It makes sense that a lot of these programs have been popping up. There’s a good demand for virtual assistants online. And I’m not talking about Siri, or Alexa or Google Assistant. I’m talking about actual people who do actual work. But instead of an office setting. They’re doing their work in the comfort of their own how.
That’s pretty much the reason why a lot of people tend to work as a virtual assistant. They have the flexibility of doing their work from home. Some virtual assistants do need to work at a certain time. But at least they don’t have to commute anywhere to do their work. All they have to do is boot up their computer and start working.
A lot of people become interested by the prospects of earning from home. But, most of the time, they don’t really know how to begin their journey as a VA. That’s why these training programs are being created. These people see a demand for certain knowledge that they seemingly have.

- Recommendation: It’s one of the more affordable virtual assistance-related training programs out there. There’s not a lot of major difference to the type of content that they teach you with regards to being a VA. But it’s definitely a well-thought out program.
Who Is Kayla Sloan?
As somebody who has written quite a bit about these virtual assistance programs, there’s often a very common thread whenever I write about the people who created those programs. Maybe it’s accidental that it has happened a lot. But there’s so many similarities in how people get into the world of virtual assistance.
In the case of Kayla Sloan, she was in a load of debt. She was working a full-time job. But the money that she was earning from it wasn’t really enough to cover her expenses and her debt payment. So she decided to start a blog just to make her accountable. She wasn’t really earning money from it. But she needed a place to vent, basically.
A few months into, a friend of hers wanted to some help on her blog. Her friend was willing to pay her for her time and effort. And seeing as there was an opportunity for her to get paid, she said yes. The work that Kayla did for her friend lead her to get recommended to a friend of hers. That pretty much started her journey into becoming a virtual assistant.

What Is 10K VA?
Seeing as there was a demand from people who wanted to learn more about being a VA, Kayla decided to use her knowledge to create her own course. That’s basically how $10K VA started. This is exactly how most other VA-related training program started.
It seems that there was a lack of information about virtual assistance online. If you do search for the term, you’d often get results saying that you need administrative skills to become a VA. I mean, that’s one way of doing it. But there are other skills that are in high demand that maybe you already have.
With 10K VA, you’re basically going to learn how to properly pitch your skills to your clients and also build a business out of it. A lot of skills can be self-taught. Photo and layout editing, logo design, video editing, social media management, basic coding and theming skills. Those are skills that you can learn just by watching videos on YouTube. They are also skills that a lot of clients look for online.
A lot of people don’t have an idea how to pitch themselves to their clients. Sometimes it’s in the way you write. It’s good to write in a professional manner. But sometimes it can come off as a bit rigid. Writing casually also isn’t great. It may seem that you have no respect for your client.
Once you’ve manage to find your client, you’re basically on the path to turning yourself into a business. And that will require you to put systems so that you can work efficiently.

What Are You Getting Out Of the 10K VA System?
There are seven modules that are in the 10K VA program. The first module is about the basics of being a VA. It takes you through the things you need to know about industry. As well as how you can choose what kinds of services to offer as a VA.
The second module is about finding and pitching clients. It’s pretty self-explanatory. You will learn how and where to look for job listings online that match with the services that you can provide. Then you will learn how to land your first client. You will also learn how to perfect your pitch to the clients and how you can get more clients through referrals.
The next two modules focus on pricing systems and setting up contracts. You have a skill that they want and you want to be paid well for that skill. But, at the same time, you are beholden to provide what the client wants. That’s the point of pricing and contracts when it comes to being a VA.
Once you have started getting the ball rolling, you’re basically able to turn your services into a legitimate business. The last three modules are about setting up systems so that you can do your work as a VA more efficiently. You will also learn how to set up a business as well as how to pay taxes as a VA.

Final Verdict – 10K VA Review
This program is similar to what Susan Mershon offers through The Techie Mentor. It’s more focused on building up your business more than technical skills. And it’s great that both Kayla and Susan focus more on the business side of it. Because it is important to know how to put systems in place once you become a virtual assistant.
10K VA is a cheaper alternative to the one from The Techie Mentor. But there’s nothing wrong if you choose one over the other. Do I recommend that you enroll into the course? Not really. At least, not yet.
I feel like you should focus more on building a skillset that attracts clients. Maybe you already have some of those in-demand skills now. You only really need to make yourself better at doing those skills. Although, anybody can learn while they do it. But it’s hard to do so when you’re already doing the job for your client.
Unless you don’t have the money yet for the paid course, you can enroll in the free course that Kayla offers. Just so that you can have an idea of what you’re getting into. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look for free resources. There a ton of free resources out there. But at least it’s good to know that people like Kayla are willing to share their experience for free.
