The state of the world is getting quite bleak. The future does not look good at the moment, and everyone seems on edge. I know what we all want – for life to get back to normal.

At this point, what even is normal, anyway? It has been two years, and even if we are trying our hardest to adjust to life in this new world, it is still difficult.

Everyone is just trying to survive at this point. People are doing their best to earn a living, and many people have lost their jobs too.

Prices for basic goods as well as utilities are rising, while wages are not rising at all. The problem is that jobs simply are not paying well-enough. This is why they decide to start a small business of their own, or take freelance gigs for supplemental income.

Well, there are different kinds of side hustles available. You can always find one that can cater to your interests. Like they always say, it feels nice working a job you love.

What brought you to this Million Dollar Year review is the prospect of making some money on the side. Luckily for you, I did my research, so I’ll be able to tell you whether this program can help you find your way to financial freedom.

What is Million Dollar Year?

Million Dollar Year is a program made by Dow Janes, a company founded by Laurie-Anne King and Britt Williams Baker. It is a course that will teach you all about investing, and is geared towards women.

Million Dollar Year Review - Million Dollar Year company

Actually, this is the first program I know of about investing which is geared towards a particular gender. It seems like its goal is to help women be open towards more financial opportunities.

The course aims to teach women how to be more financial stable and independent, as well as more empowered. To be fair, they have a good point, but on the other hand, whenever I hear the word “empowered” and “financial freedom” in an online course, I get some traumatic flashbacks.

According to the program, there is a 3-step path towards financial freedom. The first step is laying down a whole new financial foundation. Second step is the creation and optimization of management systems and practices. Last but not the least is growing your wealth.

The website makes a pretty good job of hyping up the course to women, so I get why they will feel inclined to try it out.

Who are Laurie-Anne King and Britt Williams Baker?

Million Dollar Year Review - Million Dollar Year owners

Laurie-Anne calls herself an “empowerment coach”, as well as an “energy healer”. I am not quite certain what these two terms mean, but they sure sound weird. She could’ve called herself something better, if you ask me.

Anyway, she is also a creative and an entrepreneur, and she used to have $60k worth of debt. She managed to pay it off, and she currently runs two 7-figure companies.

Laurie-Anne grew up in a poor family. The main reason why she decided to create Million Dollar Year is so that other people would be able to employ the same methods as her and succeed. Sounds like a great plan, but that doesn’t really apply to all people, given their circumstances.

On the other hand, Britt is an investor, as well as a money mindset & investment coach. She graduate from Harvard Business School.

Her father taught her what compound interest is at age 8, while her grandfather taught her how to invest in the stock market when she was just a college freshman. Looks like she is the nerdy one out of the duo.

The goal of Million Dollar Year is to help you develop skills and habits in order to spend more thoughtfully, save efficiently, and invest confidently. Basically, it is all about managing your money responsibly.

The program is designed to be a year-long, real-time coaching program. You are going to be given different tools which will help you “rewrite your financial future”.

In this part of the Million Dollar Year review, I will be explaining what is included in the program.

The Curriculum

The program curriculum is all about step-by-step trainings and resources, which can help you set habits that would help you responsibly manage your money. This includes budgeting, saving, investing, and growing your money.

It aims to be a one-stop shop for everything that you will need to learn about money.

1st Phase: Build a New Financial Foundation

For the first phase, you will be thought how you can build your new financial foundation. Even as a beginner, you also get to learn it, as it is taught in a simple manner designed for rookies.

For this part, you will be laying the groundwork for a financial system, which will then transform your financial habits, your confidence in finances, as well as train your financial literacy skills.

You will also be encouraged to have a clear understanding of your current financial reality. If you have some problems, the program says that it can help heal your relationship with your money.

The first phase is designed so that after you are done with it, you would have changed your money habits, tracked your monthly expenses, and start building towards a more financially-responsible future.

  • Financial Snapshot Worksheet so you can get an accurate picture of exactly where you are today

2nd Phase: Money Management Systems

For the second phase, you will be learning how to draft long-term financial goals, as well as how to achieve them.

You will be taught how to operate automated savings systems, so that you will be able to grow your savings over time. The program aims to help you implement a monthly budget to follow so that you can reach your financial goals more easily.

Once you are done with this phase, you would have made some changes to your spending habits, meaning that you would be enjoying life without living out of your means.

You also get access to the following tools*:

  • Money Ritual Workbook so you can create an enjoyable money habit

  • Weekly Money Ritual Checklist to set yourself up for consistent success

  • Uncovering Your Money Past Workbook to start the process of healing your money story

  • Personal Cash Flow Tracker so you can easily track every dollar coming in and going out

Also, the program will teach you how to give back to your community. Quite philanthropic, right?

You get access to more tools*:

  • Money Ritual Workbook so you can create an enjoyable money habit

  • Weekly Money Ritual Checklist to set yourself up for consistent success

  • Uncovering Your Money Past Workbook to start the process of healing your money story

  • Personal Cash Flow Tracker so you can easily track every dollar coming in and going out

Financial Coaching

In this program, you will get access to financial and investment coaches. They will be the ones responsible for answering your inquiries, as well as guiding you through every step of the way.

There are also live weekly group calls with your coach, for real-time coaching purposes. You can also get their feedback and answer some tricky questions that are not explained in the curriculum.

Community & Accountability

These are composed of other like-minded people going on the same journey. There is a forum dedicated to asking questions, sharing your struggles, and of course, for celebrating your milestones.

The aim of that community is to help you find some friends that have the same goals as you. After all, the program encourages you to do that so that you would not feel alone throughout the journey.

Mindset

You will also be thought of what the right mindset should be in order to attain financial freedom. The program says that the major factor that will determine your success is of course, you.

You will be getting training on how to reframe your financial narrative so that you can be the person you want to be. Well, at least that’s what they claim.

Pricing

This course will cost you $4,999, but you can pay in 12 monthly installments of $499. As you can see, that is way too much money. I don’t think that many people are willing to pay that much.

Even if you have that much dispensable cash, I still don’t think you should enroll for this program. It is just overpriced. I believe that there are resources out there that can teach you all you need to know about investing, for free.

In my opinion, changing your financial habits should start right in this Million Dollar Year review: you do not need to spend thousands of dollars in overpriced courses.

Is Million Dollar Year a Scam?

In this part of the Million Dollar Year review, I will tell you if it is worth it enrolling or not.

I don’t think so. The program is pretty legit, and I don’t doubt the credible of Laurie-Anne and Britt. Also, the point of the program is pretty good, as indeed, women are still treated unfairly in some parts of the world.

In some countries, women are not being paid equally as men. Even though women are very capable, it is still happening. The purpose of this program is to help women become financially independent.

To be fair, the program is pretty expensive. I think it would be quite difficult to convince people into signing up for it. After all, $4,999 is not a small amount, even if you can pay in installments.

I think Million Dollar Year is a pretty comprehensive course, but I don’t think it should be worth that much. I know of a lot of other courses about investing, and yes, they teach the same thing, but cheaper.

Also, if you find the time for it, you can easily find resources online for free where you can learn investing. That is, of course, if you are willing to weed through tons of information.

To be fair, I think women would be inclined to enroll in this course, as they will feel like they need the company of a community of women after the same thing. Well, I wouldn’t blame you if you would like that too.

But if you are after a support group, then you can always find forums and groups that you are accessible for free. No need to pay this much money just for that.

Million Dollar Year Pros and Cons

Pros

  • You get access to a comprehensive training program that would teach you about how investing can help you reach your financial goals.
  • The program is designed specifically for women, meaning that it would be more advantageous to join if you are one or identify as one.
  • The community seems welcoming and friendly.
  • Laurie-Anne and Britt are credible enough to be teaching a course about investing.

Cons

  • The refund policy is quite ridiculous. Basically, you need to prove that you did what the program has taught you. If you were not able to save at least twice of what you paid for it, you are eligible for a refund. Well, that does not sound fair. In a course of a year, many things can happen.
  • The course is just overpriced. It costs way too much money.
  • You can find what is taught here from online resources for free. Just saying. You don’t need to pay $4,999 for a course.

Alternatives to Million Dollar Year

Investing

For this portion of the Million Dollar Year review, I will be presenting you with some alternatives.

Investing is a good way to make passive income, as all it requires from you is capital. Sure, you can monitor how your investments are doing, but it doesn’t really require a lot of your time.

It is not really an easy way to make money, as you need to study how the market works. Be careful of investing in bad deals, as you will definitely lose your hard-earned money on them.

If you are looking for a program about investing, you should look at my reviews for The Cashflow Academy, Keystone Investors Club, and Monetari Fund.

Final Verdict – Million Dollar Year

Before I end this Million Dollar Year review, I would like to share a few more insights that could help you.

If you are on the lookout for a course that can teach you how to invest, then I don’t think you should enroll in Million Dollar Year. In fact, scratch that idea. You do not need to enroll in a course if you want to learn to invest.

There are various online resources you can take advantage of which will teach you. You just need to look, that’s all. It will save you a lot of money.

You can also look through forums and sites like YouTube. In fact, there are a lot of channels dedicated to making videos teaching people how to invest. There are also blogs like this one.

Investing is a good side hustle, but requires capital. I don’t think it is suited for everyone. On the other hand though, I know of one you can start today.

It is something you can start without learning complicated skills, and it can also earn you passive income. More details are in the section just below this one.
