Gourmet Cupboard MLM Review: Is This MLM Worth Joining?

Today we will be reviewing a company called Gourmet Cupboard. Is Gourmet Cupboard a scam? Find out in this Gourmet Cupboard MLM Review.

You are probably just sitting in front of your computer or mobile device, when you suddenly got a message. Surprisingly, it was from someone on your friend list whom you never talked to before. It could be someone from high school, or a workmate you are not particularly close with. Either way, you found it odd.

Also, they seem to have arrived at the right moment. Here you are, feeling stressed about the pandemic and wondering if you can somehow demand for a raise at your current job. You know that they would most likely reject your request, but you know that it is the only way to make ends meet.

That aside, you are looking for a contingency plan which could help you make more money. The timing of that hunbot is pretty impeccable too.

Well, just remember that you are pretty lucky upon stumbling on this Gourmet Cupboard MLM review. You will be learning a lot about this MLM, and other MLM companies in general too.

Before we go further in this Gourmet Cupboard MLM review, I will define two terms first: MLM and pyramid scheme.

MLM members make money by selling products and recruiting new members. In pyramid schemes, members could only make money by recruiting people. Pyramid schemes are illegal and banned by the FTC.

As a disclaimer, I am not affiliated with Gourmet Cupboard MLM in any way.

Hopefully this Gourmet Cupboard MLM review can help you decide whether you want to sign up for the company or not.

What is Gourmet Cupboard?

Gourmet Cupboard MLM Review - Gourmet Cupboard intro

Gourmet Cupboard is a multi-level marketing company founded by Melissa Holmes and Judy Baker. They are a mother and daughter team, basically. The company sells pre-packaged food mixes.

The whole idea for Gourmet Cupboard started when Melissa began making homemade gifts that consist of Ziploc bags filled with food items that she distributed to family and friends. The people she gave them to actually loved them, which is why they decided to build a business around this concept.

The team has decided to go full-on with their business, and now the company has a lot of recipes and gift ideas that they are ready to share with the world.

This video will help you learn more about Gourmet Cupboard.

Gourmet Cupboard Products

Gourmet Cupboard MLM Review - Gourmet Cupboard products

Gourmet Cupboard sells different food mixes. They have a variety of recipes that change per month. Each mix is handmade and properly divided into portions, which can help make cooking easier and faster. That is their selling point, actually.

They sell dishes that include soups, wraps, cookie doughs, and other food items.

The video below will show you how they prepare the products.

How Do MLMs Work?

Now that you have an idea about Gourmet Cupboard and its products, I guess that you are feeling a little more interested with the idea of joining one. After all, having known basic information about the company is the first step to registering as a member.

That aside though, I hope that you would not jump to an MLM opportunity right away without knowing the basics. This include information about how an MLM operates, why I am not really a fan of their business model, and why a lot of people do not seem to like them.

This section is dedicated to discussing the inner workings of an MLM. After reviewing hundreds of them in the past, I figured that I should not keep the knowledge I gained to myself. After all, you are here to learn, so why not give you a crash course about MLMs, right?

The most obvious red flag I ever noticed in MLMs is they operate just like cults do. That includes suspicious mind-control tactics, the company demanding absolute loyalty, and having their members recruit people. I have watched a lot of documentaries about cults in the past, and I am surprised upon noticing these behaviors in MLMs.

The problem is that they have gotten so good at getting away with things that people are actually believing what they say. Again, another thing attributed with cults is that they seem to know exactly what to say to people to gain their attention and interest. I actually found it a little creepy.

Another thing I found to be suspicious is how MLM members often portray success in social media. However, we all know by now just how fake social media can be. People only post the highlights of their life. We have no knowledge of what is going on behind the scenes.

Is Gourmet Cupboard a Pyramid Scheme?

Since Gourmet Cupboard members earn money both by selling services and recruiting new members, then it is safe to say that Gourmet Cupboard is not a pyramid scheme.

However, since Gourmet Cupboard is still an MLM, do not expect to make money if you have no plans on recruiting people. Recruiting will earn you significantly more money than actual product selling, and is more encouraged.

This just makes Gourmet Cupboard look like a pyramid scheme in disguise, doesn’t it?

Like New U Life, La Bella Baskets, and IDLife, Gourmet Cupboard is not a pyramid scheme.

Is Gourmet Cupboard a Scam?

No, Gourmet Cupboard is not a scam.

However, if you think this is enough for you to jump in Gourmet Cupboard’s so-called opportunity straight away, then I suggest that you hold your horses. This is just the most basic thing, so don’t go signing up for this company right away.

Before making your decision, I suggest that you do a thorough research on the MLM first. You can consult some of the sources I listed below. Take note that you can definitely consult any source you want to, but the sources I listed below are the best kinds to consult, for various reasons listed.

What Sources Should You Look For?

There are three kinds of sources that you can consult when it comes to researching MLMs. There are other kinds of sources, but I believe that these two sources will be of the most help to you.

To be honest, I am quite impressed that you found the best source for MLM knowledge by yourself. I am not saying this because I am biased with this Gourmet Cupboard MLM review, but rather because third-party reviews are actually the best source in the internet regarding MLMs.

The main reason for this is because they are unbiased. Third-party reviews, like what their name states, are published by third-parties. This means that they are in no way affiliated with any MLMs. By this, MLMs have no control over the information they publish.

Third-party reviews are free to publish anything, as long as they get the information from factual and credible sources. Since the MLM companies have no hold on them, they can publish whatever facts they dig up, even though it is negative. Because of this, they remain impartial and unbiased.

Even though third-party reviews seem perfect, they are not. You need another source to supplement your findings, and for this, I recommend looking at forums. Forums hold massive amounts of information, and what’s more, their posts are being updated everyday. This means that every time you visit a forum, you get fresh information.

You will learn a lot from there, because just like you, the other members are also researching them. Forums are a good hub to exchange knowledge. You can engage discussions in forums, and get to know the members as well. You will be surprised to know that some of them used to part of MLMs.

How to Make Money from Gourmet Cupboard

Since Gourmet Cupboard is an MLM, there are only two ways to make money with the company. and these are:

  • Selling products
  • Recruiting members

These methods might seem simple to you at first glance, but trust me, these are a lot harder than you expect.

Selling products involves marketing them to people who might be interested. This means that you have to know your target market, as they are the people who are interested to buy your products. Remember that not everyone would be willing to buy from you, so do a market study first.

The second method is a lot harder than the first one, as this involves actually convincing people to sign up for the company. Of course, not everyone you meet want to join an MLM, as they have a negative reputation.

Remember that the MLM business model is not sustainable, so as time goes by, you will run out of people to recruit.

MLMs do not really care about how many products you sell. What they care about is how many you buy and how many people you can bring in.

How Much Can You Make?

Well, this is probably the main question you have before you even found this Gourmet Cupboard MLM review: how much money can you make here if you join? Prepare yourself as I will be answering your question in a few more moments, unless…

As much as I want to give you a clear answer, I just have no data that could help you. I scoured the internet for answers, looked around at online forums, and even tried to initiate a discussion online regarding this MLM. Unfortunately, I could not find an answer. It just seems like the company itself would not want this known.

There is actually no law that punishes MLMs for not being transparent to their members, but I believe that there should be one. People deserve answers, especially because they are the ones investing money to this company. They deserve to know whether they can earn money or not, because if they can’t, then what is the point?

MLMs need to be more transparent towards the people they are recruiting. Those people have the right to know what they are getting into before they sign up. They deserve better treatment.

A company with no income disclosure is just one big red flag to me. They are clearly hiding something, and that is most likely because they are too ashamed to admit that MLM members do not make money at all. This company is no different than other typical MLMs.

Things I Like in Gourmet Cupboard

Established Company

Gourmet Cupboard has been in the business since 2006. That is quite impressive, because the average lifespan of an MLM is only three years. The fact that they managed to keep operating despite facing a lot of competition means that their management style is working, and that they have established a loyal customer base.

Unique Concept

This is actually the first time I came across an MLM that sells food mixes. From what I have seen about the company so far, it seems worth trying their products. Taste-wise, I would not know yet because I haven’t tried it, but their concept seems interesting and fun.

Things I Dislike in Gourmet Cupboard

Expensive Products

As interesting as they make it sound, it just seems like Gourmet Cupboard was not so good after all. They charge premium prices for their products, ranging from $10 to $50. To be honest, I would not purchase something that expensive. That is almost the price of a bill you get when you eat out at a restaurant.

This will make their products a lot harder to sell. The company is targeted towards moms who cook, but to be honest, I know that they will still prefer making the meals themselves than buying them overpriced at this MLM.

It is an MLM

This is an MLM, so it means that a lot of people definitely failed in this venture. In fact, 99% of people who join MLMs fail to make money, and they do not even earn back their initial investment.
