Today, we are going to talk about the band Greta Van Fleet and their respective net worth.
There are often times where a band would suddenly blow up out of nowhere. In the sense that they’ve been going at it for years. But there’s going to be that one song that everybody seems to get hooked on.

It All Started In The Suburbs
The beginnings of the band Greta Van Fleet pretty much started in the city of Frankenmuth in the state of Michigan. The city is pretty much features an architectural style that resembles the ones you’d see if you were in the Franconia region in Germany.
A lot of bands often start from a bunch of friends or even siblings trying out stuff during the summer. Some go on to actually continue playing music while others just stay within the confines of those three months of vacations.
The band was founded by twin brothers Josh and Jake Kiszka, their younger brother Sam, and their friend Kyle Hauck. It kind of feels like Kyle is the odd man out considering that three-fourths of the band are brothers. But they started the band in the summer of 2012.
There is often this commonality among a lot artists and bands on why they decide to pursue music. It always has to do with how they grew up.
In the case of the Kiszka brothers, they grew up in a household that listened to a lot of music. Their parents had a collection of vinyl records of bands that they liked. And I guess that sort of lead to them to have some sort of interest in music. Their dad was also a musician so I guess the old man’s interests in music just rubbed off on them.
But It Wasn’t Necessarily That Easy
In an interview that lead vocalist Josh Kiszka did for HuffPost, he mentions that he didn’t immediately see that becoming a musician would be his career.
But he mostly had interests in different art forms. He did a little bit of acting for the nearby community theater. He apparently also wanted to write books. There’s also an interest for comedy out of all things. But Josh initially wanted to become a filmmaker.
He actually did a bunch of projects prior or even during the formation of the band. Though, in some form, music was always kind of involved. Not that he would necessarily write music for his short films. But rather choosing songs to use for the soundtrack.

What’s In A Name?
Trying to come up with a name for a band is often one of the hardest parts especially for those who are just at the beginning of their careers. The name has to be distinct enough to differentiate you from other bands. But it also has to be easy to say and remember.
The name for Greta Van Fleet came about at the last minute. In that same interview that Josh did for HuffPost, he mentions that they were about to perform for their first big gig at the Frankenmuth Auto Fest. Kyle Hauck was having lunch with his grandfather. After being dropped off at the Kiszka household, Kyle mentions that his grandfather was going to cut wood for somebody named Gretna Van Fleet.
The rest was history. Apparently Gretna Van Fleet played in polka band. So when the band started using the name Greta Van Fleet, I guess it lead to other people in Frankenmuth to ask if Gretna was going to be playing at some event that Greta Van Fleet was playing at.
It seems that the band had asked for permission to use her name. Luckily for them, she gave them her blessing.
A Change In The Lineup
The original lineup stayed for about a year or so. At some point in 2013, Kyle Hauck was replaced by Danny Wagner. It doesn’t seem like Kyle has done any interviews for any news outlet.
An interview that Greta Van Fleet’s former manager Michael Barbee did for Alternative Nation sort of sheds a light on why the band had to let go of Kyle. Though, considering it’s coming from just one side, it might not paint the whole picture.
It seems that Kyle may not have wanted to continue playing in the band anymore. There was this instance where Kyle had to bail from one of their gigs due to breaking an ankle. But apparently he was still pretty active during a football game the day before.
At that point, Danny Wagner was a bit of regular fixture during Greta Van Fleet’s rehearsals. He was more of guitarist than a drummer when he would hang out during the rehearsals. But when they had him play drums during that gig that Kyle bailed out on, he did really well.
That basically cemented Danny into the band. And that’s basically what the lineup has looked like since then.

There’s No Way To Go For Greta Van Fleet Than Up
It takes a while for any artist or band to find fame outside of their immediate surroundings. You do have to put the effort into gigs outside of your town that you and your bandmates could play in. It takes a while to introduce yourself everywhere. Though, with the internet, it’s not as hard.
Even having access to platforms that can help you disseminate information to your fans isn’t really enough. You still have to do a lot of work going around different towns and performing music. It’s easy to cultivate a pre-existing fanbase. But getting more people to support your music takes a lot of effort.
At this point, Greta Van Fleet had released a few songs online. 2017 was a pivotal year as far as releases go. They rereleased a song called Highway Tune early in March. Then a few months after, they released a live EP that they recorded in 2014.
Even during the first few years of the new lineup for the band, they had some level of success in Michigan. The type of success that would get their song used for a commercial for local car dealership.
The reason why they rereleased “Highway Tune” was because the song was used in an episode of the Showtime series “Shameless.” That was the farthest a song has reached outside of those local Chevy commercials. It actually took a year after that episode aired before they released a new version of “Highway Tune.”
So What Is Greta Van Fleet’s Net Worth?
Slowly but surely, Greta Van Fleet has gotten more popular. I think having their song be used for television series really helped them gain popularity.
2017 was definitely the year where the band started getting noticed. Along with the many releases that they made during that year, they also had the privilege of opening for The Struts in May. By October, they had won best new artist at the Loudwire Music Awards.
They continued to record new music for the first ever full-length album that was slated to release in 2018. Once 2018 rolled along, they had the chance to perform at Elton John’s Oscars afterparty. A few months after that they had they had made their late night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
It may not seem like a big deal for some. But getting to perform on a late night talk show is a major milestone for a lot of newer artists. They get to perform in front of the audience in the studio and for the people who watch at home.
The band was hitting big by the time they released their debut album. It debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. A few months after the release of the album, they got the chance to perform during the first show of 2019 for Saturday Night Live. It was just a few floors up from where The Tonight Show’s Studio.
Even though the band has been getting a lot of attention in the past few years, they still have a long way to go. As of right now, it is estimated that the band’s net worth is around $5 million.
