Herbalife Review – Can You Make Money on This MLM?

Today we will be reviewing a company called Herbalife. Is Herbalife a scam? Find out in this Herbalife review.

If you haven’t heard of Herbalife before, then worry not, as you are not missing out on anything. To be honest, I would prefer than nobody hears about Herbalife at all so that they cannot spread their MLM agenda. That aside, I think it’ll be even more surprising if you have heard of Herbalife before meeting a Herbalife hunbot.

Herbalife is an MLM, so they hardly have any presence. MLMs are pretty obscure because they do not really market or advertise their products like what big companies do. That work is being done by the members who sign up for them, yet they aren’t really compensated for it.

If you think that’s bad, then I suggest you read further as I will be revealing a lot more facts in this review.

As we go further in this Herbalife review, I would be talking about how this MLM functions, how you can earn money on it, and I will answer your major question: Is joining Herbalife worth it? You can learn about that in this Herbalife review.

Before we go further in this Herbalife review, I will define two terms first: MLM and pyramid scheme.

MLM members make money by selling products and recruiting new members. In pyramid schemes, members could only make money by recruiting people. Pyramid schemes are illegal and banned by the FTC.

As a disclaimer, I am not affiliated with Herbalife in any way.

Hopefully this Herbalife review can help you decide whether you want to sign up for the company or not.

How Do MLMs Work?

Welcome to my favorite section. Here, we take a break from the review by talking about MLMs in general. In this section, I answer your basic questions about MLMs. Right now, I stand by my statement that MLMs are the worst and why I don’t recommend joining one.

Today, we will talk about how much MLMs do not really belong in modern society anymore.

Online shopping used to be just a concept that a few people could grasp. Not everyone had internet or a computer back then. Nowadays, almost everyone has access to the internet through their smartphones. To be honest, most of us have our lives revolving on our phones.

Well, I cannot really blame you if you are on your phone most of the day. Smartphones were designed as perfect companions. What else could you ask for? It’s the perfect entertainment device. You can use it to communicate with someone even if they live miles away, and you can use it to get informed of the latest news.

Nowadays, as long as you know what you want, you can easily purchase it online. From clothes, food, and electronics, you can get almost anything online. You can even import products from outside the country if you want to. That’s how far online shopping has come.

So yeah, basically, people have no more need for direct sales. They can easily get their products online without having to go through a middleman system like an MLM. Besides, why even buy from MLMs? Their products are grossly overpriced. Also, they take ages to ship your items.

Anyway, I hope that this helps you decide, as you would have to compete with these if you are planning to join an MLM.

Is Herbalife a Pyramid Scheme?

Since Herbalife members earn money both by selling services and recruiting new members, then it is safe to say that Herbalife is not a pyramid scheme.

However, since Herbalife is still an MLM, do not expect to make money if you have no plans on recruiting people. Recruiting will earn you significantly more money than actual product selling, and is more encouraged.

This just makes Herbalife look like a pyramid scheme in disguise, doesn’t it?

Pyramid scheme vs Multi-level marketing

Like CorVive, Rain International, and Uforia Science, Herbalife is not a pyramid scheme.

Is Herbalife a Scam?

No, Herbalife is not a scam.

However, if you think this is enough for you to jump in Herbalife’s so-called opportunity straight away, then I suggest that you hold your horses. This is just the most basic thing, so don’t go signing up for this company right away.

Before making your decision, I suggest that you do a thorough research on the MLM first. You can consult some of the sources I listed below. Take note that you can definitely consult any source you want to, but the sources I listed below are the best kinds to consult, for various reasons listed.

What Sources Should You Look For?

There are three kinds of sources that you can consult when it comes to researching MLMs. There are other kinds of sources, but I believe that these three sources will be of the most help to you.

I believe that the best sources you can consult about this are third-party reviews. These reviews are the best sources, in my opinion, because they are well-researched and full of facts. Also, they are unaffiliated with the MLMs they write about, so they can publish facts no matter how negative they are.

Another good source you can check are internet forums. Most internet forums I found that talk about MLMs are pretty active. The users are very open too, so I am pretty sure that you can interact with them freely and gain valuable insight from them. Since the forums have new posts everyday, you can be assured that you get the freshest info daily.

If you are looking for information that reveals a lot about the company, then look for ex-member testimonies. These sources are often found in media sharing sites. If you know where to look, then you’ll surely find a lot of them. The people who make these have first-hand experience in working with MLMs, so they know a lot of facts that MLMs refuse to reveal to the public.

When it comes to research, I suggest looking for multiple sources. A single source doesn’t really tell you enough.

How to Make Money from Herbalife

Since Herbalife is an MLM, there are only two ways to make money with the company. and these are:

  1. Selling products
  2. Recruiting members

These are only the basic ways with which you can get paid in Herbalife. There are available benefits and bonuses which you qualify for which allows you to boost your earnings. I suggest you continue reading this Herbalife review as I will be discussing these bonuses in the compensation plan section.

However, being able to qualify for these are easier said than done. In order to qualify for this, you would need to build a downline. And building a downline means you have to recruit people to sign up under you.

That is the main reason why MLMs often encourage recruiting more than selling. Having a lot of people in your downline enables you to earn more commissions, because for every product your downline members sell, you earn a percentage of it.

So if you are thinking of joining an MLM to get passive income, the only way to actually get it is to recruit. If you want to earn a lot of money, then make sure to get a lot of people to sign up for you.

Remember that the MLM business model is not sustainable, so as time goes by, you will run out of people to recruit.

MLMs do not really care about how many products you sell. What they care about is how many you buy and how many people you can bring in.

Herbalife Products

Herbalife Review - Herbalife products 2

Herbalife sells products that are categorized to the following:

  • Healthy weight
  • Balanced nutrition
  • Energy and fitness
  • Specialised nutrition
  • Skin and hair care

The company sells quite a lot of products so I cannot really go on detail about every product they have.

How Much Can You Make?

Surprisingly, Herbalife publishes an income disclosure statement. You can view it here.

According to this document, 50% of those who just signed up for Herbalife in the year 2019 made $175 per month. Those in the top 10% made $1,030 per month. To be honest, I am not surprised about this number since it is quite hard to make money in an MLM, especially during your first year. Those in the top 1% managed to make $4,740 per month.

For the other distributors who joined before that year, 50% made more than $265 per month. The top 10% made $3,335 per month. For people who have been in the company for many years, this number is quite pitiful. The top 1% made $14,755 per month, though.

Well, I guess this data just showed us the obvious. In MLMs, only those in the top are making all the money. Those in the bottom and work the hardest didn’t even make minimum wage. That’s just sad, isn’t it?

I mean, I am glad that Herbalife shared their income disclosure statement, but seeing these numbers does not provide encouragement for potential members to join.

Things I Like in Herbalife

Established Company Reputation

Herbalife was founded in 1980, which means that they have been in the business for more than 40 years now. I guess this is enough to prove that the company is not a scam, seeing how they are still in business.

The average lifespan is an MLM is only three years, and lasting for that long is already very lucky. Since Herbalife has been in business for 40 years now, that just means that they are managing the business properly.

Through all their years in business, I guess this means that they found a loyal customer base which they continue to profit from.

No Sales Quotas

Turns out that you need not worry about how many products you should sell for month in order to stay at Herbalife, which is a good thing. Most MLMs have quotas you would have to follow, which means that you would have to buy products for ‘personal use’ in order to stay active.

This means that you wouldn’t have to worry about having to buy products regularly, so you can actually build your business at your own pace.

I guess this means that the company is actually encouraging that you go out there and make sales. That’s new.

Company is Well-Known

Well, Herbalife is an MLM, which means that they are still quite obscure. However, in the MLM business, Herbalife is actually well-known. I guess if you ask around, there are some people who have actually heard of the company before.

Herbalife does make an effort to be recognizable, and they even have celebrity endorsers.

Things I Dislike in Herbalife

Saturated Market

If you are looking for a health and wellness company, then there are thousands out there that are definitely better than Herbalife. I mean, the most well-known companies in this niche are actually backed by science. I am not so sure about Herbalife, to be honest. They just look like a fairly standard MLM to me.

Aside from the celebrity endorsements they have, I don’t really see Herbalife standing out. Well, they stand out in a bad way due to their bad reputation.

If you are trying to stay healthy, of course you want the help of a trustworthy company to take care of you, right?

Legal Issues

Turns out that the FTC sued Herbalife for $200 million for being a pyramid scheme in disguise.

Well, this comes as no surprise. After all, Herbalife is one of the biggest MLMs out there. It is only a matter of time before the FTC shuts them down, unless they do something about their business model.

But the question is, are they willing to start over? I doubt it. The company continues making a lot of money with the MLM model, so I doubt that they’ll be complying anytime soon.

Recruit, Recruit, Recruit

This will be discussed further in the compensation plan section, but basically, Herbalife’s compensation plan is all about building a team, which of course involves recruiting.

There are quite a lot of benefits for members who will keep on bringing in new people, but not really much for those who make sales alone.

Sad reality, but that is just how an MLM runs.

It is an MLM

This is an MLM, so it means that a lot of people definitely failed in this venture. In fact, 99% of people who join MLMs fail to make money, and they do not even earn back their initial investment.

Herbalife Compensation Plan

You can view and access Herbalife’s compensation plan by clicking this link.

Here are the ways you can get paid in Herbalife:

  • Retail Commissions. By selling Herbalife products, you get 25-50% commission.
  • Building a Team. You get wholesale profit bonuses from the sales of your downline members.
  • Royalties. You get 5% bonuses from the sales of your downline members.
  • Bonuses. There is a $400 bonus that you can earn from recruiting and having those people reach the supervisor rank.

Final Verdict – Herbalife

Before I end this Herbalife review, I would like to share a few more insights that could help you.

We are now at the end of the Herbalife review. I am sure that by now, you have already made your decision about joining Herbalife. Before you go, however, let me say a few more words that could possibly help you out, whether you are signing up or not.

I would like to reiterate how much I do not recommend joining an MLM. I guess you can already tell that from the beginning, but as you read through the whole review, I am sure that my opinion is supported by quite a lot of facts that I presented to you.

The reason why MLMs continue to exist despite how much modern society loathes them is because there are gullible people. Gullible people just won’t disappear just like that. Most of them realize the problem only when it is too late.

MLMs continue to prey on the gullible and the desperate, because only these types of people would not do any research on them before joining. These types of people are easily swayed by highfalutin words, false promises, and success stories without any backing.

I do not blame them, to be honest. Judging by the current state the world is in, people are desperate to make money to survive. That mentality is what fuels MLMs to go after them.

I won’t blame them, but I am blaming the MLMs for taking advantage of them. As for you, seeing as how you read this review from start to finish, then I guess you aren’t gullible enough to fall for their schemes.

That’s it for my Herbalife review. Hopefully this Herbalife review helps with your decision.
