HomeSchooled By Tarek Review – Tarek Buys Houses Scam?

Today, we are going to talk about HomeSchooled by Tarek. Is it legit? Find out more in this review.

When I got pitched this topic, I did a preliminary search for it. I just wanted to see if there were relevant results that showed up. Spoiler alert: There was. Now that I know that there was at least some information available, I got to researching for real.

I was really surprised when I found out that Tarek El Moussa was the guy who created this program. The topic wasn’t surprising. It was more that a relatively famously personality would have time to create a training program. This guy was filming his show for a cable network. How would he even have time to do this?

There’s certain a lot of these types of programs available out there. Especially one that talks about Tarek’s expertise. But it’s sort of not surprising that somebody like Tarek would want to expand his company into other lucrative ventures. Most of the time, rich people want to get even richer. When you have a recognizable name in the industry, people will flock to check out what it is. You already have some legitimacy. Why not see how far it could go?

My interest for HomeSchooled by Tarek was piqued. I really wanted to learn more. How much does this training program different from his television show that talks about the same thing? And is it worth the money that you’re paying for?

Who Is Tarek El Moussa?

If you have ever watched HGTV in the past decade or so, the name Tarek El Moussa will be familiar to you. That’s the thing that most people recognize him for. He hosted Flip or Flop with his then-wife Christina Haack from 2012 to 2016. It was spun off into another series called Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa. In that show, Tarek helps real estate investors how to flip a house successfully using the things he learned through his career.

Even before they had the television series, Tarek was already in the real estate business since he was 21 years old. His career at selling real estate did pretty well the first few years. But then came the 2008 economic crisis. The crisis hit the real estate industry hard. It subsequently lead him and Christina to move into an apartment with cheaper rent.

Tarek decide to try his hand at house flipping. Getting into something new, even though he had years of experience in real estate, involved a bit of trial and error. They were only starting their first flip when Tarek decided to pitch the idea of Flip or Flop to HGTV. The network picked up the show pretty much after that pitch.

Flip or Flop ran for 11 seasons. In the last few seasons of the show, Tarek and Christina had separated but decided to continue working together professionally, or mostly for the show. Both Tarek and Christina had spin-off series by then. Tarek had Flipping 101 while Christina had Christina on the Coast. After that Tarek decided to establish multiple companies. He also decided to start training programs including HomeSchooled by Tarek.

But before we go more in depth on HomeSchooled by Tarek, why not take a look at the recommendation on the link below?

My Favorite Program

What is HomeSchooled by Tarek?

HomeSchooled by Tarek wasn’t the first training program that he created. When he was still in the early seasons of Flip or Flop, he and Christina created a three-day training program regarding real estate investing. I think that training program cost $1997? It seemed to have done okay. But it didn’t seem to be the thing that Tarek and Christina focused on.

Then in 2020, as Flipping 101 started to air, Tarek decided to create a free webinar called Homemade Investor. It was weird time to start a webinar like that. Since, you know, there was a pandemic and all. But since it was free, there were a lot of people who joined. I guess having some level of popularity helps you sell programs like this. By 2021, HomeSchooled by Tarek was born.

There isn’t really much to the program right now. They had a few live events in the past couple of months. But when you to their website, the programs that they provide currently is a private Facebook group where you can talk about real estate investing. There’s also a mentorship program where Tarek teaches you how to start your journey in real estate investing. Then there’s a free e-book that you can download. The only problem is that you have to input your contact details in order to download it. That’s a pretty common thing with these training programs.

The Mentoring Program

I think the mentorship program is the one that people are probably more interested in. Similar to other mentorship programs, you can only get answers by filling out a form. HomeSchooled by Tarek wants to know if you’re actually interested in starting a career or getting better at it. Considering how much other mentoring programs cost, it’s going to be fairly expensive.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the mentoring program cost a few hundred dollars or even a thousand since you’re spending significant time talking to Tarek El Moussa and/or his team. Considering that he has a lot of ventures in real estate, he doesn’t really have enough time to go through each and every interested person who fills up those forms.

But it is interesting to see Tarek go through this route. Though, considering that he has built up a brand that seems reliable, he has enough cache to get people to patronize this sort of thing. Fame can really be a helpful thing sometimes.

Let’s Talk About Flip or Flop

I’ve mentioned Flip or Flop quite a bit during this review. But we never really got into the specifics of it. Considering that this is the thing that made Tarek El Moussa famous, you might be curious about it.

House flipping is a real estate strategy that involves buying houses with the intention of selling them for a profit. It often involves rundown houses. You’re buying those properties with the intention of selling them after renovation.

In an episode of Flip or Flop, there is a structure to it. They film the show about a year prior to airing. I think the show does eight or more episodes a season? So they’re basically flipping a lot of houses within a year, relatively. Most of the houses that they flip are in California.

Tarek and Christina have already purchased the property by the time that the episode starts. The show goes through the renovation process. There are a lot of problems that arise when you renovate an property. Any new renovations being made has to adhere to current building codes. That often means there’s a lot of money being spent on this project. They’ve already set a budget for the project. But most of the time, the budget exceeds by a few hundred dollars. The drama arises from those problems popping up. That’s why people like the show.

We’re down to the final stretch of the review. But first, why not check out this recommendation?

Final Verdict – HomeSchooled By Tarek

I can’t really say that I recommend that you sign up for the HomeSchooled by Tarek mentorship program. Since there’s no information regarding its cost, you could probably avoid it for a while. You should probably download the free e-book that offer. But be wary that you might get a few e-mails or texts from HomeSchooled by Tarek. Like I mentioned earlier, the only way you can download it is by putting in your contact details.

There are a lot of free resources out there online if you really want to learn more about real estate investing. Even Tarek has a few videos on his YouTube channel about it. There’s rarely a lack of free resources especially when a lot of websites are dedicated to giving out free information about real estate investing. You just really know how to look.

But if you’ve ever seen an episode of Flip or Flop, you’ll know how hard it is to flip a house. There’s just a lot of problems that arise from renovating a house. You have to make smart decisions so that you don’t spend too much money on your flip.
