Kirby Review: Is This Vacuum MLM Trustworthy?

Kirby Review: Is This Vacuum MLM Trustworthy?

Today we will be reviewing a company called Kirby. Is Kirby a scam? Find out in this Kirby Review.

I am sure that even you are surprised by the proposition made by the Kirby hunbot you contacted you. To be honest, you would not even know that this company exists if it hadn’t be for that chance meeting. Not that I would call it chance, but a deliberate attempt to lure you in.

Also, I am sure that you got tempted to sign up, which is why you are in this Kirby review today. At least you decided to read about the company further before making such a major decision. If you are wondering how come you have not heard of this company before, it is because they are obscure.

Obscurity is not really a good thing when it comes to matters that deal with money. I mean, some companies can be obscure but legit, but MLMs belong to a different category. Let’s just say that they are sort of legit, and sort of a scam at the same time. The law does not really classify them properly.

I suggest that you read this Kirby review entirely so you can understand what I am talking about.

Before we go further in this Kirby review, I will define two terms first: MLM and pyramid scheme.

MLM members make money by selling products and recruiting new members. In pyramid schemes, members could only make money by recruiting people. Pyramid schemes are illegal and banned by the FTC.

As a disclaimer, I am not affiliated with Kirby in any way.

Hopefully this Kirby review can help you decide whether you want to sign up for the company or not.

What is Kirby?

Kirby Review - Kirby intro

Kirby is a multi-level marketing company that sells vacuums and home cleaning equipment. The company was founded in 1914, which just proves their legitimacy at this point. Kirby dealers are located in more than 50 countries worldwide today.

Kirby’s parent company is Scott Fetzer Company. This company is an American manufacturer of products for the home. They are also known as Scott & Fetzer.

Kirby Review - Kirby products

The name of the company came from the founder and creator of its vacuum products, Jim Kirby. He was the person responsible for designing the first Kirby vacuums for George Scott and Carl Fetzer. However, the name Kirby was not really used until the 1930s.

Kirby is currently based in Ohio, while the vacuum cleaners that they sell are being manufactured in either Texas or Ohio.

You can watch this video for a review about Kirby’s vacuum.

How Do MLMs Work?

Now that I have presented you with Kirby’s background and their products, I think that it’s time for me to properly explain to you what MLM really are. After all, I have given you the basic definition of terms you need to know already, but that is simply not enough to explain what they really do.

If this is your first time ever reading about an MLM, then I suggest that you read this section entirely. Remember that I am completely on your side in this situation, and that I will be helping you out by telling you the truth.

For one, MLMs know that they are obscure. They know that customers are less likely to come to them, which is why they devised a business model that will ensure that they get earnings every month even though they have a few customers. This is where recruiting comes into play.

In an MLM, those who recruit people into the business are greatly rewarded. Most of the time, the benefits and bonuses they get are a lot more grand compared to those who join the business and only want to sell the products.

This is because MLMs do not really have a target market. Their main customers are the members themselves. This is how they get earnings per month, even if they cannot sell as much products.

Membership is not free, and to be able to sell products, you need to buy them first. Doesn’t this sound sketchy to you? Why would you need to buy the products first? Shouldn’t it be that you only acquire them when a customer comes your way?

The MLMs want your money. Now you are stuck with products you don’t need, and they don’t seem to care.

Is Kirby a Pyramid Scheme?

Since Kirby members earn money both by selling services and recruiting new members, then it is safe to say that Kirby is not a pyramid scheme.

However, since Kirby is still an MLM, do not expect to make money if you have no plans on recruiting people. Recruiting will earn you significantly more money than actual product selling, and is more encouraged.

This just makes Kirby look like a pyramid scheme in disguise, doesn’t it?

Pyramid scheme vs Multi-level marketing

Like NuLife Ventures, Fifth Avenue Collection, and Java Momma, Kirby is not a pyramid scheme.

Is Kirby a Scam?

No, Kirby is not a scam.

However, if you think this is enough for you to jump in Kirby’s so-called opportunity straight away, then I suggest that you hold your horses. This is just the most basic thing, so don’t go signing up for this company right away.

Before making your decision, I suggest that you do a thorough research on the MLM first. You can consult some of the sources I listed below. Take note that you can definitely consult any source you want to, but the sources I listed below are the best kinds to consult, for various reasons listed.

What Sources Should You Look For?

There are three kinds of sources that you can consult when it comes to researching MLMs. There are other kinds of sources, but I believe that these two sources will be of the most help to you.

When it comes to the best source you can possibly come online, then you have come to the right place. This Kirby review is an example of what is called a third-party review, meaning that this review has no connections to Kirby in any way. These reviews take a lot of research and fact-checking before being published, too.

Because third-party reviews are not affiliated with any MLM, this makes them free to publish the information that these companies what to keep private. Most of the time, it’s negative reviews and bad publicity. For third-party reviews, as long as it is the truth, it will be published.

Even if third-party reviews are the best source available in the internet, this does not seem that they are perfect. There are still some questions that they cannot answer, especially specific concerns that you may have.

In this case, I suggest that you scour through online forums. Online forums are great databases of information, because they are being moderated by volunteers. Because forums have a lot of users, this means that the information being poured into them are being updated as much as possible.

Forum members are also very open to answering your questions, since their goal is to educate people about MLMs. They will enthusiastically engage on discussions with you, and share their research results. It is a pretty friendly community of people.

How to Make Money from Kirby

Since Kirby is an MLM, there are only two ways to make money with the company. and these are:

  1. Selling products
  2. Recruiting members

Working in an MLM is a lot tougher than working in a regular job. For one, you do not get a fixed salary. You can only earn money by making sales, through a commission basis. This means that if fail to make sales, you do not earn a penny. Your time and efforts are not compensated if you cannot sell anything.

Selling is the most basic ways of making money in Kirby. Members are entitled to buy products at discounted prices. They can then sell them for retail prices, which in turn gives them a profit. Finding customers is a whole other hurdle for you to face, though.

If you are after making a lot of money, then you should focus your efforts on recruiting instead. Recruiting can make you a lot of money especially if you get to persuade a lot of people to sign up under you. You get commissions from their sales, so the more members, the better.

Remember that the MLM business model is not sustainable, so as time goes by, you will run out of people to recruit.

MLMs do not really care about how many products you sell. What they care about is how many you buy and how many people you can bring in.

How Much Can You Make?

The problem with Kirby is that information about them is pretty hard to come by. Other than reviews about their products, I cannot really find any important information that will help potential members. They are just not that transparent.

Also, I have learned of this already, but MLMs are not really obligated to publish income disclosure statements. They are not really breaking any laws by not doing this, which I think is not right. They should be obligated to tell their potential members how much they can earn once they sign up.

What they are doing though is violating the trust placed to them by these people. They have the right to know about where their money goes. It seems that these MLMs only want to get a hold of the money, then bail on the members the first chance they get. A scummy move, but an effective one.

If it is true that people who join MLMs are successful, then how come not everyone is a part of one already?

Things I Like in Kirby

Established Company

Kirby has been in the market for more than a century, which makes them one of the most established MLMs out there. It is pretty hard for an MLM to reach even three years in the business, and being in it for more than 100 years is just phenomenal.

High Quality Products

Kirby would not be here today if their products are crap. I am sure that it is what keeps them around, and what gets customers to continue buying from them. This benefits both the MLM member and the customer, as customers would pay top dollar for the best products.

Unique Concept

To be fair, I haven’t really encountered an MLM that sells vacuums before. This is good because Kirby has the chance to stand out to its competition. It might be an MLM, but at what an MLM should do is stand out in order to keep customers coming.

Things I Dislike in Kirby

Lacks Transparency

Even though everything can now be searched online nowadays, it seems that Kirby is still not aware that people do their research first before buying something or joining something. What does not make sense to me is even the prices of their products are not available to be viewed online.

I am sure that their intention for doing this is to get people to reach out to their members instead, however, they do not seem to be aware of how awkward an exchange it would be. Would you reach out to a stranger and ask for the prices of the products, and when you realize that you cannot afford it, what would you do?

Other than that, I also cannot seem to find any information regarding their compensation plan. I guess that is reserved for people who already joined Kirby, but if you want to join, shouldn’t you be able to know that too? That information is pretty necessary and vital.

Complaints from Customers

A lot of customers have been complaining about these company, especially towards the attitude being displayed by their members. Customers were complaining about how deceptive and pushy some of them are. I know that they are desperate for sales, but that is not an excuse for poor behavior.

Traditional Sales Method

During this pandemic, it is highly inadvisable to go outside, especially for non-essential reasons. This is why non-essential businesses are currently closed, which gave way for online storefronts.

Kirby did not seem to get the memo and still utilizes the door-to-door sales method. I would not want to let a stranger into my house, and you shouldn’t too.

It is an MLM

This is an MLM, so it means that a lot of people definitely failed in this venture. In fact, 99% of people who join MLMs fail to make money, and they do not even earn back their initial investment.
