Before we go further in this Mary and Martha MLM review, I will define two terms first: MLM and pyramid scheme.
MLM members make money by selling products and recruiting new members. In pyramid schemes, members could only make money by recruiting people. Pyramid schemes are illegal and banned by the FTC.

What is Mary and Martha?
Mary and Martha is a Christian multi-level marketing company that sells a wide range of Christian products. The products they sell are what you can find at your very own local Christian bookstore.
This MLM is no different from other MLMs. The only unique aspect they have is that they are “faith-based”. The ones they recruit are women of faith who want to earn money to support their families, while spreading their faith at the same time.
Mary and Martha was founded in 2006, and was then called Blessings Unlimited. The company is currently based in Arkansas, United States. The founder of Mary and Martha is a company known as DaySpring, which makes Christian greeting cards and gift products. DaySpring is also known to be partnering up with other Christian businesses.
Mary and Martha Products
Like I mentioned in the previous section, Mary and Martha sells Christian products, along with inspirational products that are in line with their Christian faith. The products are available for purchase at their website and at home parties sponsored by Mary and Martha distributors.
Mary and Martha sells products divided into the following categories:
- Bags & Apparel
- Books
- Candace
- Candles
- For Kids
- Home Decor
- Jewelry
- Kitchen & Tableware
- Stationery
In my opinion, their products do not look too bad. Some products are priced reasonably, while some are a little expensive compared to the ones available at your local Christian store.
How Do MLMs Work?
It is your first time hearing about an MLM, so I expected you to ask this question. Worry not, as I have prepared the answer for you. To be honest, knowing how MLMs operate is not really common knowledge. In my case, it took me a lot of research work.
Every MLM review I wrote in this website took me hours of research. That helped me with learning about things that I did not know about MLMs before. Instead of you having to look through millions of internet search results, I am here to tell you about MLMs in a few hundred words. Reading this is a much better deal, right?
For one, MLMs do not really explain properly how you really make money in the company. In the initial pitch from the hunbot who messaged you, I know that all they told you about is how great their products are, and that they are pretty easy to sell. I mean, sure, that is an okay thing to say in a pitch, right?
Well, selling products is only one of the methods with which you can earn money in an MLM. However, that is not really what they want you to do.
What they want their members to do is to recruit other people into the business. This is the reason why they are always being branded as pyramid schemes in disguise. They know their way around the law.
That aside, you will know later in this review if MLMs are really a good way to make money. I would not spoil you just yet, but I suggest you continue reading until then.
Is Mary and Martha a Pyramid Scheme?
Since Mary and Martha members earn money both by selling services and recruiting new members, then it is safe to say that Mary and Martha is not a pyramid scheme.
However, since Mary and Martha is still an MLM, do not expect to make money if you have no plans on recruiting people. Recruiting will earn you significantly more money than actual product selling, and is more encouraged.
This just makes Mary and Martha look like a pyramid scheme in disguise, doesn’t it?

No, Mary and Martha is not a scam.
However, if you think this is enough for you to jump in Mary and Martha’s so-called opportunity straight away, then I suggest that you hold your horses. This is just the most basic thing, so don’t go signing up for this company right away.
Before making your decision, I suggest that you do a thorough research on the MLM first. You can consult some of the sources I listed below. Take note that you can definitely consult any source you want to, but the sources I listed below are the best kinds to consult, for various reasons listed.
How to Make Money from Mary and Martha
Since Mary and Martha is an MLM, there are only two ways to make money with the company. and these are:
- Selling products
- Recruiting members
Actually, you will be presented with a lot of options of making money in this company. However, those methods just boil down to the basic ways I already presented above.
You already know about the selling part, but let me elaborate on it more. Selling products requires that you buy them first. However, you are entitled to buy them for wholesale prices. You can then get customers to buy them from you at retail prices. That is how you earn a profit here, basically.
On the other hand, there is recruiting. If you want to be successful in an MLM, then this is what you need to do. MLM companies also encourage this more than selling the products, which makes sense because you earn a lot more from this. This is because you are entitled to receiving commissions from the sales of people under you.
Remember that the MLM business model is not sustainable, so as time goes by, you will run out of people to recruit.
MLMs do not really care about how many products you sell. What they care about is how many you buy and how many people you can bring in.

I cannot really tell you, to be honest. Not because I don’t want to, but because I just do not have the data. This is not because I made no efforts to look for it, but rather, the opposite. I spent quite a long time looking for their income disclosure in the internet, to no avail.
This is because it turns out that Mary and Martha does not publish an income disclosure statement at all. If you are looking for the accurate data which could tell you how much their members make, then of course the source should come from them. I am sure that they have the data, but they just do not want to share it publicly.
The top reason for this is because they are afraid that it will hurt their reputation. After all, we already know how bad the reputation of MLMs are.
Because of this, what we can do is just speculate. Since Mary and Martha does not seem to differ from other MLMs, it seems like members of this MLM do not make money at all, too.
Things I Like in Mary and Martha
For the Faithful
It is quite rare to see an MLM that is committed to more than just making money. Mary and Martha is unique in its own way, as it not only wants women to make money, but it also want to spread the word of God. That is quite a noble mission.
Not only that, but the company also does charity work. A portion of product sales go to the charity called Compassion International. They help those underprivileged children in Africa. Not only does Mary and Martha spread faith through words, but they also practice the act of altruism through their philanthropy.
I have seen MLMs before that donate to charity, but this is the first time I found one that actually acts as messengers of the Lord. It is quite a refreshing sight.
Friendly Community
I have not seen any toxicity in this MLM, as far as my research goes. It seems like this is one of the few MLMs that actually empower women. They empower each other through sharing their faith with one another, and learning more about God by interacting with others who follow Him.
Established Company
Mary and Martha has been around since 2006, meaning that they have been in business for more than a decade now. It is quite surprising that a company with humble beginnings continues to grow, and from what I know about them so far, they still continue growing.
Most MLMs do not even reach the three-year mark, and for one to be in business for more than a decade is already quite a feat. This means that Mary and Martha has stuck with their values, and they have gained a loyal customer base who continues to support them through the years.
Things I Dislike in Mary and Martha
Home Parties Encouraged
Well, I have seen this in many MLMs already, and I am not really confident about their effectivity. Home parties are organized by the distributor in order to attract people into buying products. This involves demonstrations about how the products work, some games to keep the guests entertained, and discussing the company’s background.
There are people who can make a home party work, but most do not really have the skills to do so. This also involves spending a lot of time and money to organize.
It is an MLM
This is an MLM, so it means that a lot of people definitely failed in this venture. In fact, 99% of people who join MLMs fail to make money, and they do not even earn back their initial investment.

The ways to make money in Mary and Martha are as follows:
- Retail Sales. If you do not want to follow a sales quota, then your commissions from sales are 25%. If you are okay with a monthly sales quota, you have a chance to increase your commissions up to 30%.
- Recruitment Commissions. Other than your own sales, you also get to enjoy commissions from sales of the people whom you invited the join the company.
- Ranking Up. Climbing ranks in Mary and Martha is a good way to get additional commissions and benefits. The current ranks in the company include:
