Today we will be reviewing a company called Pure Romance. Is Pure Romance a pyramid scheme or scam? Find out in this Pure Romance MLM review.
Today, we will be talking about something different.
We will be looking at Pure Romance, an MLM that sells sex toys and other related products.
You must be thinking to yourself, “A sex toy MLM? Never heard that before!” Well, neither have I! I am quite surprised when I first heard about Pure Romance, but they actually have real products and real people working for them.
I guess we can now freely say that there is an MLM for everything.
Anyway, another good reason that you heard about Pure Romance is because someone you know mentioned it to you – a family member, friend, or even someone you haven’t talked to in years who are mostly likely trying to recruit you.
Just to be clear, I am not affiliated to Pure Romance in any way.
Before you plan on going in the Pure Romance MLM business, I suggest that you learn about the difference of MLMs and pyramid schemes first.
Multi-level marketing companies are always being viewed in a bad light because they heavily resemble pyramid schemes.
The only crucial difference is an MLM has real products, while pyramid schemes do not.
Pyramid schemes are illegal and banned by the FTC. If you invest in a pyramid scheme, do not expect to see that money ever again.
Make sure that the companies you deal with are legitimate. Do an in-depth research. Look for reviews, like this one.
In this Pure Romance MLM review, I will be providing information about the company, its products, and how you can make money with it.
Hopefully this Pure Romance MLM review can help you decide whether you want to sign up for the company or not.

What is Pure Romance?
Pure Romance is a multi-level marketing company founded by Patty Bristen in 1993.
The company sex toys and other intimacy products.
Pure Romance’s selling point is turning the concept of sex to a fun and and sociable experience. As we all know, sex is a pretty taboo topic.
The aim of Pure Romance is to help women find enjoyment in their sex lives and help them achieve satisfaction by recommending them products that work to please them and their partners.
Sure, you can always go to your own local adult store or buy your sex toys online, but most of the time, you do not even know what you are looking for.
In Pure Romance, you can consult one of their consultants for help without feeling embarrassed or rejected.
You can learn more about the company’s history by watching this video.
The company sells its products through its group on independent sellers, which they refer to as Pure Romance consultants.
Pure Romance sells the following products:
- sex toys
- lubricants & creams
- bath & shower products
- beauty & body products
- wellness products
- lingerie
- massage products

The company is currently based in Ohio, United States.
Is Pure Romance a Pyramid Scheme?
Since Pure Romance consultants earn money both by selling services and recruiting new members, then it is safe to say that Pure Romance is not a pyramid scheme.
Take note that like any typical MLM, this company wants you to keep recruiting, which explains why it is often mistaken as a pyramid scheme.
Even though Pure Romance is a legit company, I still suggest looking elsewhere.
Pyramid scheme-like business models are not designed to last long.

Like Beautycounter, Avon, and Usborne Books, Pure Romance is not a pyramid scheme.
High Failure Ratio
You can view Pure Romance’s 2019 income disclosure statement here.
The data is pretty easy to follow, actually.
At the very time, we could see how much new consultants have earned for 2019.

From the given data above, let’s look at those at those ranks at the very bottom.
The average total earnings of those in the lowest consultant level is $204 for that year.
I think I do not need to reiterate anymore about how ridiculous that is.
Furthermore, those who have become inactive earned $85 for that year.
Notice how those in the lowest consultant levels and inactive members make up 91.3% of the company.
I think this is the most disastrous MLM I have ever seen.
Less than 10% actually make money that could be considered significant enough as a side hustle.
Why would you join a company like this?
As someone who is starting in Pure Romance, you will probably be included in the statistic that does not make any money.
Ponder about all the effort you would need to exert just to earn that measly amount.
You need to make sales quotas, order products for your customers, pack and ship them, host parties, and travel to market your products. And all that for $204?
If you plan to do this full-time, then I suggest that you prepare to be in debt and become homeless.
Is Pure Romance a Scam?
No, Pure Romance is not a scam.
However, I recommend that you watch this video to be able to get a grasp on things that the company refuses to openly share with you.
I think the income disclosure statement that I shared above is more than enough to convince you to stay away from this company.
However, if you look from the perspective of those less than 10% who make money, you can see that they actually make big bucks in the company. How?
Well, I guess the answer I could give to that is they earn money at the expense of those people they are trying to recruit. Pretty scummy, right?
This is an MLM, so what do you expect?
How to Make Money from Pure Romance
There are two primary ways to make money with Pure Romance.
- Buy products for a wholesale price then sell them for profit
- Recruit new consultants and earn commissions from their purchases
If you want to be successful in Pure Romance, you would have to keep recruiting people.
New recruits will be your primary source of income, not sales.
How Does Pure Romance Work?
Pure Romance’s selling point is more concentrated on their concept of being sex-positive rather than the products themselves.
This is actually pretty interesting since most people consider sex as a taboo topic.
Pure Romance aims to educate people to remove that stigma away from sex.
The company assures you that their consultants have a fair knowledge on sex and pleasure.
This is another good thing about them because you can ask the consultants what toys and products you need for a greater sexual experience.
Of course, it is quite embarrassing to go to an adult store and do that.
Even though it is an adult store, people still want to keep their bedroom affairs private.
Pure Romance’s products are being sold exclusively by their consultants.
I think it helps greatly with their business since you can actually talk to your consultant about the products and your needs and they can suggest things that will do the best for you.
To get a clue about how Pure Romance markets their products, then I suggest watching this video.
How to Join Pure Romance
You can join Pure Romance by clicking this link.
The process is pretty straightforward so you can complete it in a matter of minutes.
You will be prompted to choose a starter kit first, and of course, you have to pay for it.
The available starter kits are as follows:

- Standard Kit – $219.00 (worth $525)
- Deluxe Kit – $439.00 (worth $1,059)
- Premium Kit – $659.00 (worth $1,529)
If you look at the prices of the starter kits and your earning potential, it looks like a pretty good deal.
But why would you need to spend money to earn money? That makes no sense.
Things I Like in Pure Romance
Established Company
Pure Romance was founded on 1993 and it is still active today. That is pretty impressive.
Like I mentioned earlier, the MLM business model is not really meant to last long.
I guess Pure Romance did a pretty good job with staying alive for all this time.
Breaking the Stigma Associated with Sex
Pure Romance markets its products through its consultants who are trained to provide the needs of their customers. Since most sales of Pure Romance products comes from parties, I guess Pure Romance is doing its job of breaking the stigma associated with the taboo topic of sex.
Not only can you discuss your sexual needs to your consultant, but you can also meet people who are open to listen and share their needs to you as well.
The company builds a community of like-minded individuals who want to tell the world that sex is not something to be embarrassed of.
Things I Dislike in Pure Romance
Overpriced Products
No matter how hard you try to market Pure Romance products to your potential customers, they will most likely still consider the price as one of the main factors why they should buy your products.
To show you a price comparison, here is a product from the Pure Romance website.

Now, here is a similar product from Amazon.

Notice that huge price difference?
These two vibrators do the same thing, and the only difference is the price.
I guess Pure Romance is not that special after all.
Why would you spend $199 and go through all the hassle of finding a consultant to buy from, have them annoy you for a few hours to try and recruit you, when you can go to Amazon, put this in your cart, then check out?
Stigma on Sex is Not Difficult to Erase
Even though the company is founded on good intentions, that does not mean that it is easy to market to people.
How awkward would a conversation like this be?
“Hey girl! How often do you masturbate?”
Even typing that one already has me embarrassed.
Sex is not really something that people talk about in the open. Actually, talking about it in a group makes it more embarrassing.
Unless you are very good with convincing people, then I do not think that this is the MLM for you.
Buy Your Way to the Ranks
To be able to keep your active status, you will need to keep purchasing products.
Purchasing products is okay if you are 100% sure that people will buy them, but what if they don’t?
Also, how many sex toys could you possibly need in one lifetime? Maybe a few.
How many do you need to buy to continue staying active? A lifetime’s worth for maybe one village.
Lots of Bad Reviews
Customer reviews online for Pure Romance do not look so good either. With one simple Google search, your potential customer can easily find bad reviews, like these ones.
I do not think that they will think about buying from you once they have seen these reviews.

Pure Romance Compensation Plan
I could not really find Pure Romance’s compensation plan, so I have no idea how it works.
Basically, there are two major ways to make money:
- Sell products
- Recruit new members
It is not on Google somehow so I went to YouTube instead and found this video. You can watch it so you can have an idea about how their compensation plan works.

Final Verdict – Pure Romance
Sex is not that easy to talk about.
Even if you are assured to that what you will share will remain confidential, it is still not a common topic of casual conversation.
The intentions of Pure Romance towards how they market their products is pure and innocent.
The company just wants people to enjoy sex, that’s all. That is the whole point of their company.
You cannot just force people to share to strangers their sexual needs and experiences.
Even if your goal is to help them, people are not really 100% okay with sharing their bedroom habits.
This is the main challenge that you will face if you choose to go through with signing up for Pure Romance.
Also, how sure are you that you will be trained properly for this business?
How sure are you that you can make sales when there are a lot of cheaper alternatives available in the market?
Ponder on that, then make a decision. Hopefully this Pure Romance MLM review can help on that.
