When it comes to e-commerce platform, Shopify is one of the most popular. Of course there’s also Amazon. But that is such a behemoth that it’s hard to not give focus to it. Though most other business owners choose Shopify because it’s a bit easier to use. Also, you can customize the heck out of your online storefront. Something you can’t do on Amazon.
Because of that, there are a lot of different programs and services that center around the Shopify experience. One such service comes from the people at The Leading Group. I hadn’t really heard of them prior to writing this review. That sometimes happens when you write a lot of these reviews. You’re bound to miss out on a company. There’s just a lot of them.
Though it does say a lot when a random company just pops out of obscurity like that. Why would people just start of hearing about this company now? They might have done something that would warrant a bit of attention towards them. But the e-commerce space is often hard to break through. Especially nowadays.
Still, it left me to wonder what exactly a company like The Leading Group provides. There are a ton of other more popular Shopify-based services. So what makes them a better choice than the usual places? The more I try to wrap my head around it, the more I am confused by it all.

- Recommendation: I do not recommend the services that The Leading Group seemingly provides. There are very little details regarding the people who created the company. So it’s difficult to trust a company like this to manage your e-commerce shop.
Who Is Jalil Uloomi?
It’s actually hard to answer this question for some reason. Whenever I write reviews for different programs and services, I often go straight to their website. If I’m lucky, there will be an about page that goes through detail how it was started. Often, the founders of the companies I write about are mentioned in some way.
Once I have an idea of who the people behind the product are, I do another search to see if they have an interview or a social media presence. Most of them do. But some are more forthcoming with information than others. But that’s fine. I usually give a brief overview of what these people might have done prior to starting this specific product or service.
When it comes to The Leading Group, there’s not really a lot of information that you can find about them online. On the website, they mention that they were featured on a few online publications. Sure enough, they were. Though, it’s not really as legitimate as you might think.
Some of the e-commerce programs I have reviewed would pay a decent amount of money to a press release distribution platform. That’s why a bunch of the press releases show up on seemingly legitimate-looking websites. But nothing about how it was written made it look like they were actually interviewed for it. In one of the the press releases, it was mentioned that The Leading Group was founded by a handful of people with experience in e-commerce. One specific name was mentioned. And it was Jalil Uloomi.
When you search for his name, you’re probably going to find a bunch of random results. Only the one for a private Instagram account gives you an idea of what he might look like. Unsurprisingly, the official account for The Leading Group follows that account.

What Is The Leading Group?
The Leading Group is a company that focuses on offering a done-for-you service for Shopify. A done-for-you service is exactly what the name says. The company does most of the work of managing a store on Shopify for you. It is relatively easy to setup a seller profile. But making the business actually succeed is a whole different thing.
That’s why there are a ton of other services that focus on a different business model. There are a handful of services that relate to dropshipping. Dropshipping involves the use of a third-party service to handle the inventory, packaging and delivery of the products you sell on your store. It’s one of the most common things you’d see people promote online. There’s very little money you need to shell out. But not all products sold through dropshipping are that great.
It could be possible that The Leading Group might utilize dropshipping in one form or another. But using dropshipping takes a bit of time, since most of the third-party services that have the products you sell on your store are based overseas.
The Leading Group has two different plans that you can choose from. The core package costs $6,000. It includes an ad management system, a fully-designed storefront, a selection of products that you can sell on your store. They also offer automatic order fulfillment. And you also get access to their Slack channel.
The Gold Package
Then there’s the gold package. That package costs $8,997. You get everything that’s in the core package. Aside from that, you also get customer service management, private access to their ads team, and access to their founder. Basically, you get a ton more stuff that could potentially help you reach more people online. In small text at the bottom of the breakdown for the plans, they mention that you will be paying $500 a month for the ad management system. So you’re spend a ton of money upfront then hundreds more each month.
In order to go over the details of the plans, you will need to schedule a call with them. It’s par for the course with most of the account management services I have seen. Especially since you’re going to being giving them at least $6,000 upfront. At least they mention the costs of it early. I have seen a handful of other services that will require you to call them first to ask about the costs. At least try to give them a range early on.
Surprisingly, they’re active on Instagram. They would sometimes post income breakdowns for the shops that they manage for their clients. There’s a ton of highlights that you can check out. But they never really show the store that they manage. Sometimes, it’s good to see what exactly you’re going to get. Maybe it’s an anonymity thing? I don’t know. But they should’ve at least showed them what a professionally designed store from them looks like.

Final Verdict – The Leading Group Review
I honestly do not recommend the services that The Leading Group provides. As good as it sounds to have most of the work done for you, I don’t think that paying thousands of dollars upfront then $500 monthly sounds like a good idea. Like I mentioned previously, they don’t really show what kind of stores they have managed. Sure, seeing numbers go up is good. And that’s sufficient proof for some. But it’s sometimes nice to see what an actual store from them looks like.
This is definitely not the best way of starting out in e-commerce. It’s never really going to be easy. And considering that The Leading Group probably runs a bunch of other stores, you’re bound to be competing with some of them. Sometimes the target audience for your shop might overlap with another.
I’m also not sure if the income that you could potentially earn will be enough to recoup the cost of that you paid The Leading Group upfront. Maybe it will. But you can’t really expect that you’ll earn the same amount of money consistently. Sometimes your audience would choose another store over yours. That’s a thing that happens.
The lack of transparency when it comes to their company, especially their founder, doesn’t really help.
