One of the things that I was introduced to recently was the existence of these different newsletters that are focused on investment strategies. It is interesting to see that there were newsletters like that. I was aware that there are a lot of people and companies who monetize newsletters. A lot of people are willing to pay for other people to write about their opinions and insight. Who would’ve thought? Certainly not me, that’s for sure.
The main thing that I was surprised with regards to those kinds of newsletters is how much they cost. My jaw dropped when I saw how much a year’s subscription to those kinds of newsletters is worth. Like, I assumed it would’ve been similar to how newspaper or magazine subscriptions cost. But it was very much not the case for a lot of them. I’m not going to spoil the pricing just yet. You have to wait until later in the review to find out. But it is insane to think that insights about what’s going on in the market would cost that much. Was the insight really worth all the money people would spend on subscription? Seems like it is.
There are still a ton of those that I haven’t really written about. It would probably take me a while before I get to some of them. But I am really enjoying the journey that it takes me. Even though, for the most part, a lot of them are pretty much the same. How is this kind of service something that people actually seek out for? But that’s just how it is, I guess. So it’s probably good to continue on with the review from here.

And while there’s a possibility that you might earn money from investing in the stocks that Steve Sjuggerud and his team, it’s not guaranteed that you will be getting the same results as them. There is always a risk involved with investing. You could mitigate it, but it’s still going to be there.
Who Is Steve Sjuggerud?
There’s not a lot of information that you could find about Dr. Steve Sjuggerud online. I know that I say that sentence in some form over and over again. But it’s actually hard, sometimes, to find information about people who created a product or a service. Certain personalities would put an effort and have some press release distribution service put out a press release about them on some random website. You know, just so that they could add some legitimacy to their name. And I have seen a lot of those in the past.
From what I could find, Dr. Steve Sjuggerud started working as stock broker shortly after finishing college. It seems that Steve has a doctorate in finance. So it made sense that he work within that industry. It was during his time as a stock broker that was introduced to the world of financial newsletters. A lot of his clients were reading these newsletters and Steve didn’t really see the appeal of it, at first. He just thought that what was in those newsletters weren’t really good financial advice.
So, after about a year or so of working as a broker, he went on to become a fund manager. Those newsletters were still kind of in his head at a time. He thought that he could do a better job at it than those who wrote the newsletters his previous clients were reading. Pretty much after working as a fund manager, he decided to actually put his money where his mouth was and start his own newsletter. And it surprisingly worked out for him.
In an interview that he did, Dr. Steve Sjuggerud mentioned that he and Porter Stansberry, founder of Stansberry Research, were actually childhood friends. Steve actually had hired Porter to help him with the newsletter that he was doing. But it kind of lead Porter to establish his own financial research firm which later became Stansberry Research. Steve eventually joined Porter as one of the contributors for the firm. Stansberry Research started publishing True Wealth from then on. At some point in the past couple of years, Stansberry Research turned into a larger company called MarketWise. In 2022, Dr. Steve Sjuggerud was appointed as the interim CEO of the company. Though he was then replaced by Porter Stansberry.

What Is True Wealth?
There’s not really much all there is to talk about with regards to True Wealth. If you have ever seen any of my reviews for the other investment strategy-related newsletters, you’ll know that a lot of them are very similar with what they talk about. A lot of them focus on a specific aspect when it comes to their approach for their newsletters. Like, Retirement Millionaire frames their analysis on what would be a good investment for you if you plan to retire. It’s focused on long-term results rather than the short-term. But, in essence, it is still talking about which stocks might be good to invest in. That’s really what these newsletters are at their core.
The approach to the investment strategies that you’ll be getting out of the True Wealth publication seems simple enough. What you’re getting out of the newsletter are assets that are low-risk but would become profitable at some point. It seems that this particular newsletter is also geared towards those that want to have something to fall on when they retire. I guess a lot of investment strategy newsletters are focused on the long-term. Which isn’t surprising honestly.
The things that you might invest in based on the recommendations from the newsletter are not mainstream. And that’s the whole point of the newsletter. It is introducing you to all these different assets that not everyone has given any thought to. Let’s face it, a lot of people do tend to gear towards the usual places to invest in. You know, the tech industry and all that. Because they see that, at present, these companies do pretty well for themselves. Of course, the amount of money that you might invest in those companies cost more than you would if you invested in lesser-known stocks.
Unlike a lot of other newsletters that hide their cost unless you contact them, they’re a lot more upfront with True Wealth. You’re pretty much going to pay $199 for an annual subscription to the True Wealth newsletter. There’s not really a lot to the subscription, honestly You get an issue every third Friday of the month for twelve months.
Aside from that, you also get access to Steve’s True Wealth model portfolio. It’s pretty much a breakdown of what kind of assets you should invest in based on Steve Sjuggerud’s recommendations. Another notable thing is that you also get certain updates before a new issue comes out, especially when there might be certain actions that might happen in between. And they will apparently notify you with what actions you might do based on those updates. Aside from that, you also get access to special reports as well as a free subscription to the DailyWealth newsletter.
There’s definitely a lot to this particular newsletter if you choose to pay the annual subscription fee.

Final Verdict – True Wealth Review
Among a lot of the other newsletter publications that I have reviewed, True Wealth is one of the more affordable ones out there. It’s still insane to think that there are a number of similar publications out there that costs $4,000 for a yearly subscription. You really have to think about what kind of insights you would be getting from them that’s worth more than $300 an issue. Sure, some give you access to the entire archive on top of the 12 issues that you get a month. But it still does not justify the price. Especially if there’s not much else that comes with a subscription. And you’re going to have to pay that price again after a year just so you could continue to get access to new and old issues of the newsletter.
With True Wealth, it’s a pill that’s a bit easier to follow. That being said, there is a lot of risks that is involved when it comes to investing in the long run. You’re going to spend a lot more than just the $199 for a yearly subscription to the newsletter. It’s good to have access to all that insight. But you’re going to have to actually spend money in investing if you really want to get the gains that you might be able to have when you retire. Even then, it’s not guaranteed that you will have the same level of success that Dr. Steve Sjuggerud and his team have. They have decades of experience already as investors. So they have a lot more of an edge to it. But you can’t really avoid the risk, but you can mitigate it a bit.
